Carson City is the capital of Nevada and the home of the state government. It's also the county seat of Carson City County. The city is located on the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada and at the western edge of the Carson Valley. The city was founded in 1858 and named after Kit Carson, the famed frontiersman and Indian fighter.
