Bad Doberan is a small town in the north-east of Germany, located in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It is best known for its medieval monastery, Schloss Doberan, and the world’s only surviving working railway steam locomotive, the Schwarze Maria. The town also has a long history of salt mining, which can still be seen in the form of a number of salt houses.
