Frankenthal (Pfalz) is a town in the Palatinate region of southwestern Germany. It’s well known for its porcelain industry, and the impressive porcelain museum is a must-see. The town is also home to a large number of churches, including the imposing St. Peter’s Basilica. The pedestrianized centre is a great place to wander, with a lively mix of shops, restaurants and bars. Don’t miss the traditional German festival of Fastnacht, held in February, when the town is taken over by costumed parades and celebrations.
