Neuwied is a small town in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located on the banks of the Rhine River, about 15 miles (24 km) north of Koblenz. The town is best known as the home of the Brothers Grimm, who were born in the town in 1785 and 1786, respectively. The town is also the birthplace of the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who was born there in 1749.
