Located 15 kilometers from Stuttgart, Sindelfingen is home to one of Germany's largest Mercedes-Benz manufacturing plants, where 37,000 employees build luxury vehicles like the S-Class and EQS. When you walk through the medieval town center, you'll pass the 11th-century St. Martin's Church with its distinctive bell tower, see the Pegasus sculpture turning atop the Friendship Fountain, and spot children riding the miniature railway in Sommerhofen Park.

Mercedes-Benz Plant Experience

The Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant covers 3 million square meters and produces over 300,000 vehicles each year. You can watch S-Class and all-electric EQS models being assembled during daily guided tours at the customer center. The plant's newest addition, Factory 56, opened in 2020, demonstrates the company's automated assembly systems building their latest electric vehicles.

City Center

St. Martin's Church has stood in Sindelfingen since 1083, its stone walls and bell tower marking the center of the medieval quarter. You can learn about local life through the centuries at the City Museum, housed in the Old City Hall. The surrounding streets contain well-preserved half-timbered houses with intricate wooden frameworks and carved decorative elements from the 15th and 16th centuries.

Parks and Recreation

In the market place, the Friendship Fountain's rotating sculptures represent Sindelfingen's international partner cities, with a central Pegasus figure. Children can ride the miniature train through Sommerhofen Park on weekends and holidays. The city's swimming complex includes an 80-meter water slide and separate indoor and outdoor pools open year-round. The Old Cemetery, located behind the city library, contains centuries-old gravestones under mature oak and maple trees.

Cultural Events

The International Street Fair transforms Sindelfingen's streets each summer with food vendors and live performances. Local cultural groups and visitors from partner cities cook traditional dishes and perform regional dances. Throughout the year, the WerkStadt project, funded by Mercedes-Benz, organizes concerts, sports competitions, and community events for residents.

Getting to Sindelfingen

You can drive to Sindelfingen using the A8 and A81 motorways. Regular S-Bahn trains connect the city with Stuttgart and Herrenberg. For international visitors, Stuttgart Airport has direct public transport links to Sindelfingen. The city sits at the edge of the Glemswald nature reserve, where you'll find hiking trails and forest paths.
