Gebze is a city in Turkey, located on the eastern shore of the Sea of Marmara, about 55 km east of Istanbul. It is the capital of the Gebze district of Kocaeli Province. As of the 2010 census, the population of Gebze was 542,859. The city is an important industrial center, with a large proportion of the population employed in manufacturing.
