Bensheim is a small town in the German state of Hesse, located in the Bergstraße district. The town is best known for its annual wine festival, which takes place in September. The vineyards that surround the town produce some of the best Riesling wines in Germany. There are also several medieval castles and ruins in the area, which make for a picturesque backdrop. The town centre is filled with quaint, half-timbered houses and narrow streets, and there are a few good restaurants and bars to enjoy.
