Step into Tivoli Gardens, the world's second-oldest amusement park in central Copenhagen. You can ride the 1914 wooden rollercoaster where a brakeman controls your speed, watch open-air performances behind the peacock curtain at the Pantomime Theater, and walk through gardens filled with pagodas and flowering cherry trees. The 20-acre park next to Copenhagen Central Station inspired both Hans Christian Andersen and Walt Disney during their visits.

Gardens and Architecture

Red-painted pagodas and Chinese-style pavilions dot the landscape throughout the park. You'll see peacocks and guinea fowls walking freely between flower beds and along the paths. In spring, more than 24,000 tulips create waves of red, yellow, and purple across the gardens. At night, over 100,000 custom-designed lamps light up the pathways and buildings, transforming the park into an illuminated wonderland.
