Jastrzębie-Zdrój

The town of Jastrzębie-Zdrój is located in the south-western part of Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship. It is situated in the Rybnik Coal Basin, on the Biała and Rawa rivers. The town was founded in the late 18th century by the Silesian industrialist, Johann Heinrich von Heydebreck. The town’s growth was due to the discovery of coal in the area. The town’s name means “hawk’s well” in Polish.

The town is a popular tourist destination, due to its many health resorts, which are located in the mountains nearby. The town is also home to a large steelworks, which is the largest employer in the area.
