Landvetter, a village of 7,152 residents in western Sweden, centers around its international airport serving the Gothenburg region. You can watch aircraft take off from the terminal's observation deck, join a guided tour through the airport's restricted areas, or attend a football match at the municipal stadium. The village's location, 25 kilometers from Gothenburg, makes it a convenient base for exploring Sweden's west coast.

Getting to and Around Landvetter

National Road 40 connects Landvetter to Gothenburg (25 kilometers) and Borås (40 kilometers). Flygbussarna runs airport shuttles every 20 minutes during peak hours, while Vy bus4you and Flixbus operate direct services from major Swedish cities. A paved bicycle path runs between Gothenburg and Landvetter, passing through pine forests and farmland. Construction of a new high-speed rail link between Gothenburg Central Station and Landvetter Airport will begin in 2024.

Landvetter's Aviation Hub

Göteborg Landvetter Airport has served western Sweden since 1977, with direct flights to Stockholm, London, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam. The airport's two-hour guided tours run Monday through Friday at 10:00 and 14:00. Your guide will take you through the terminal building, drive you around the airside area, and show you behind-the-scenes operations including baggage handling and air traffic control facilities. Weekend tours require advance booking.

Sports and Community Life

The municipal stadium hosts Landvetter IS football matches throughout the season. Local sports facilities include three indoor gymnasiums, six outdoor playing fields, and dedicated training areas. Twelve sports clubs, ranging from handball to athletics, use these venues. The stadium complex becomes particularly active during summer weekends when local tournaments bring teams from across Härryda Municipality.

Airport Services and Facilities

The airport terminal has food options both before and after security checkpoints. You'll find a 7-Eleven in the public area for basic travel items and quick meals. The secure area includes Joe & the Juice and Espresso House, which serves coffee and fresh-baked pastries. A recent terminal expansion has added more retail space and seating areas. The airport maintains 7,300 parking spaces across short-term and long-term lots.
